OSWEGO – September 16, 2025, Hubert F. Parrow Sr., known to family and friends as “Huey,” 89; passed away peacefully at his home in the Town of Scriba, NY on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025.
Huey was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. During his younger years, he enjoyed big game hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping and stock car racing #21. He was a man always willing to lend a helping hand to those asking or in need, no matter the circumstance or time of day or night. His quick wit and sense of humor was always worth a good laugh or two along with a nice cold Pilsner. It could be said that he never met a stranger. Huey’s love for the outdoors went hand-in-glove with his role as one of the founding members of the Oswego County Pioneer Search and Rescue Team. He participated in numerous emergency searches with his fellow Pioneers, sharing his expertise of map and compass. Hubert was also a former member of the Fulton Moose Lodge #1280 and member of good standing with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
Mr. Parrow was pre-deceased by his wife of 70 years: Barbara Jean “Jeanie” DiBello Parrow, his parents Hubert H. Parrow and Edna (Wells) Parrow and his brother Gerald Parrow.
Huey is survived by his children: Hubert F. Parrow Jr. of Hannibal, NY; Rebecca Smith of Oswego, NY; and Robert (Cathy) Parrow of Clopton, AL; his grandchildren: Thomas (Becca) Smith, Michael (Kathy) Smith and Carly (Josh) St. Germain, great grandchildren: Jordan Garrison, Lily Jean Smith, Josh, Paige and Ian Smith and Mae Katherine St. Germain. He is also survived by his brothers: Leon, Lee and Bruce Parrow along with many nephews, cousins and friends.
A Private Graveside Service and Burial will be held at Fairdale Cemetery, Hannibal, NY for Hubert and his wife Barbara.
There will be No Calling Hours.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Oswego County Pioneer Search and Rescue Team would be a most fitting honor to Hubert’s memory.
The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego.
