James Douglas Wagner, 71

FULTON, NY – James Douglas Wagner, 71, of Fulton, died Thursday May 21, 2015, at Oswego Hospital.

Mr. Wagner was born in Emporia, Kansas, to Artimus and Anna (Nevitt) Wagner.

He has been a resident of New York since 1998.

Mr. Wagner was a United States veteran having served in the Navy from 1964 to 1970 and later retired from the Army Reserves.

He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars and twice received the Navy Unit Commendation Award.

Mr. Wagner enjoyed being an entertainer.

He would play his guitar and shared his talents with many Senior Citizen groups in Kansas.

He was also known for treating people he worked with to a good, hot cup of coffee.

Mr. Wagner is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia Wagner of Fulton; four children,  Angela (Doug) Fye of Nebraska, Deanna Wagner of Texas, Bryan “Dan” Wagner of Nebraska and Chad Wagner of Colorado; three step-children, Cynthia Dinan of Washington, Chuck (Faith) Foultz Jr. of Fulton and Sheryl (Mark) Rood of Florida; two brothers,  Leonard Wagner of Kansas and Raymond Wagner of California; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, with Minister Mary Pettit officiating.

The United States Navy Honor Guard will bestow military honors.
