OSWGO – Jerrod M. Calkins, 46, of Oswego was called home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2026.
Jerrod was a machinist by trade, spending much of his career at Canfield Machine and Tool. Outside of work, he was a lifelong learner. His boundless curiosity and imagination led to many different pursuits. He was a tinkerer and an inventor, building things like his infamous remote-controlled lawn mower. He loved music and playing the bass and guitar, sharing his talent with several bands and church worship teams. He was a jack of all trades, but most recently, he was a puppet maker, an artist, a leatherworker, and even the author and illustrator of his very own children’s book that he made for his daughters.
While life served him many challenges, Jerrod was always resilient and upbeat, looking to help and serve others at every turn. He was a kind and gentle soul, who loved God, his family, and his children fiercely.
Jerrod is survived by his wife, Rachel (Glenister) Calkins from Sandy Creek; children, Riean Glenister, Chloe Calkins, and Kathryn Calkins; father, Randy Calkins of Fulton; mother, Cynthia (David) Fresch of Oswego; sisters, Tara Fresch of Fabius and Alena Fresch (Stephen Mahan) of Baldwinsville; grandmother, Janet Calkins of Fulton, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 13th, from 4:00-5:00pm at the Fulton Alliance Church, located at 1044 NY 48, Fulton, NY 13069. Services will begin at 5:00pm, with a small reception to follow. The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. 4th. St. Oswego.
