John M. Canale – Funeral
OSWEGO – Funeral services for John M. Canale, who died on Tuesday July 18, 2017, were held Monday July 24, 2017, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Oswego, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. John Hogan.

The pall was placed on Mr. Canale’s casket by his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Zinovia Canale; grandsons, John, James and Christopher Canale; and sister, Mary Ghent.

The Old Testament reading was proclaimed by his grandson, John Canale; and the New Testament reading was proclaimed by grandson, James Canale.

Prayers of the Faithful were led by his grandson, Christopher Canale.

The offertory gifts were presented to the altar by Greg, John and Christopher Canale.

Mr. Canale’s grandson, James Canale, played “Ave Marie” on the organ. “Gabriel’s Oboe” and “River Flows In You” was played by Oswego Middle School teacher and friend Debbie Mazurek and students MacKenzie Palmer on violins and Luke May on the cello, and retired OMS teacher Cheryl Rogers on viola.

Family remembrances were shared by John Canale and Mary Ghent.

Burial was in St. Peter’s Cemetery, where Rev. Hogan presided at the committal service.

The pallbearers were grandsons, John, James and Christopher Canale; nephew, Michael Falise; and great-nephews, Mathew Falise and Michael Masci.

The Oswego City Veterans Council of the VFW preformed military services.

The United States Honor Guard rendered final honors and presented the American Flag to his wife, L. Angeline Canale.

Taps was played by friend, Scott Ciesla.
