FULTON, NY – John R. Caruso Sr., 91, of Fulton, died Saturday February 20, 2016, in Michaud Residential Health Services, Fulton.
Mr. Caruso was born in Fulton, the son of the late Nicholas and Margaret Caruso.
He served in the United States Air Force during World War II from 1946 until 1949 where he was stationed in Toyko.
Mr. Caruso worked at Massaro’s in Volney before working for Nestle’s in Fulton, from where he retired after 22 years of service.
He enjoyed tinkering with mechanics, working in the yard, and he was an avid reader.
Mr. Caruso is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley Caruso of Fulton; daughters, Lillian Rose of Fulton, Elaine Paschke of Rochester, Joan (Terry) Pulver of Rochester and Sandy (Rod Krueg) of Rochester; step-daughter, Cynthia (Sid) Grow of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Louise Davis.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Sugar Funeral Home.
Spring burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be prior to the services from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Sugar Funeral Home, 224 W. Second. St. S., Fulton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church or a charity of your choice.
