At the time of her death, she was living in her own home in Minetto, NY, of which she was very proud.

Josephine grew up and lived for many years in the town of Granby on Honey Hill Road at her family’s farm.

She attended and graduated from local schools.

She was an excellent student, particularly in mathematics.

Josephine was predeceased by her parents, Thomas L. Flood and Josephine L. Flood; a brother, Timothy L. Flood; and two sisters, Mary Flood and Catherine Flood.

Josephine Flood worked for the Container Corporation of America in its personnel office.

She was member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton, NY, which is now known as Holy Trinity Catholic Church, to which her family and Josephine gave generous support.

Josephine was a member of Catholic Daughters Court Per LeMoyne.

One of her fondest memories was traveling to Ireland with a parish group.

She was active in Democratic politics.

She served on the Democratic Committee for the town of Granby, as well as an election inspector.

She was one of the founding member of D.A.W.N., the Democratic Action Women’s Network.

With Catherine’s passing in 2002, the last of her immediate family, Josephine sold the farm and moved to Springside at Seneca Hill.

She enjoyed the companionship of the other residents, especially her fellow Euchre players.

She liked Sudoku and Solitaire, which she learned to play on the computer.

Josephine also took annual road trips with her friend, Margaret Streitenberger, in Margaret’s motorhome, along with all of their respective pets, which she always enjoyed.

After becoming ill, about four years ago, Josephine took charge and responsibility, as she always did, and purchased her home in Minetto, where she lived and was attended by loyal caregivers.

Her greatest joy and pleasure came from her pets.

Her niece, Sandy Bomgren, often visited with her Shelties.

Josephine particularly bonded with the oldest Sheltie, Mandy, who brought back many happy childhood memories of Josephine’s family dog, Lucky, an Airedale Terrier.

Josephine is survived by a nephew, Larry (Sharon) Flood; two nieces, Karen Flood Heaphy and Sandy (Eric) Flood Bomgren; as well as the extended family of her brother and sister consisting of six great-nieces and one great-nephew, 14 great-great-nieces and seven great-great-nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday, February 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a Catholic Commemorative Service at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, conducted by Rev. Father Joseph Scardella, Pastor of Holy Trinity Church, Fulton.
