Marjorie L. Hopkins, 99

FULTON, NY – Marjorie L. Hopkins, 99, of Fulton, passed away on Monday April 30, 2018, peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, shortly before celebrating her 100th birthday later this month.

Mrs. Hopkins was born in Fulton, to the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Green) Bowering.

She lived in Fulton for most of her life until moving to Oriskany Falls 30 years ago to be closer to her family.

Mrs. Hopkins greatest joy was her family.

She took pride in caring for her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Hopkins was also an avid reader and bird watcher with a special fondness of cardinals.

Mrs. Hopkins was a member of the Volney Grange and Bristol Hill Congregational Church, Volney.

She was predeceased by her husband, Glenn R. Hopkins; daughter, Margaret “Peg” Pickard; grandson, Michael Pickard; brother, Edward Bowering; and daughter-in-law, Valerie Hopkins.

Mrs. Hopkins is survived by her children: Robert Hopkins of Fulton, David (Barbara) Hopkins of Geneva, NY, Bruce (Beth) Hopkins of Oriskany Falls, NY; sister-in-law, Alma Bowering of Fulton; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bristol Hill Congregational Church with Reverends James and Andrew Hinman officiating.

Burial will be held in Mount Adnah Cemetery, Fulton.

Calling hours will be conducted 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton.
