Mary Ann ( St. Phillips) Runeari

FULTON – December 15, 2025, Mary Ann ( St. Phillips) Runeari, 101; peacefully passed away on Monday, December 15th, 2025.

Born in Syracuse, NY she was raised by Alfred and Laura (Baccola) St. Phillips.  The family lived in Fulton where she was one of 11 children.  Mary met and married her husband, Joseph, in 1946.  In her early years, Mary worked at Foster’s ice cream shop, Nestle’s, and Grand Union.  She was a selfless volunteer at Michaud Nursing Home for over 30 years.  Mrs. Runeari was given the John Foster Burden Award which honors community members who demonstrate integrity, creative ability, and who serve selflessly for the aging population in Oswego County.  Mary also served for years as a member of the Altar Rosary Society at Holy Family and Holy Trinity churches where she was famous for her lemon meringue pies at bake sales.  She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish where she participated in varied events.  Mary was a member of the Golden Agers and enjoyed taking bus trips with her friends.  She also participated in the Monday Night Bowling League at Lakeview Lanes.  Active in the Fulton Booster Club, Mary received the Larry Churchill Award in 1985.  Mary’s favorite day was Sunday where she prepared an Italian feast for her family.  This weekly tradition continued for decades.

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 68 years:  Joseph and her beloved son: William.

Mary is survived by her daughter:  Jo Anne Ciciriello of Fulton, daughter-in-law: Patricia “Sis” Runeari of Oswego, her grandchildren:  Kate (Ryan) Drajewicz of Fairfield, Meg (Emily) Runeari of Mount Kisco, Nick Ciciriello of Mexico, and Angela Ciciriello of Mexico City.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren:  Charlie Drajewicz, Lucille and Rosie Runeari, and her siblings:  Joseph St. Phillips of Fulton, Anthony St. Phillips of Auburn; Rose Bevacqua of FL, Carmella Warner of Fulton, Jean Feeney of Oswego, Marie Pinch of OR and many special nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be held 8:30 to 10:00 AM Saturday at the Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday in Holy Trinity Parish where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. J. Scardella.

Burial will be conducted in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
