Maxie Calkins

HANNIBAL – Maxie “Max” Calkins, 52; of Hannibal, NY passed Tuesday at University Hospital, Syracuse after a decade long fight against Polycystic Kidney Disease.

Max was born in Niceville, FL., and he has been a longtime resident of Oswego County. He retired from the City of Fulton having worked for over 25 years. Max enjoyed hunting, horseshoes, and playing pool. He especially loved having fun with his family and friends.

Max was predeceased by his parents Francis and Hazel (Dawson) Calkins Sr.

He is survived by his wife Kristina Marie Calkins of Hannibal, NY. Max and she have been married for 25 years and have been together for over 30 years.

He is also survived by 3 children: LeAnne (Christian) Borges of CA, Matthew (Silver) Calkins of Syracuse, NY; Marissa Calkins of Hannibal; his siblings: Francis “Rebbie” (his biological mother: Jolynn) Calkins of Granby, NY; Kenneth (Lindy) Calkins of Fulton, Cody Calkins of Granby, NY; Lorraine (Joe) Tetro of Oswego, NY; and his granddaughter Evelyn Borges, and several uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Calling hours will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton.

Face masks, hand sanitizing and people will be invited in as others exit to adhere to NYS Mandates and Capacity Limits. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Oswego Animal Shelter 621 E. Seneca St., Oswego, NY 13126.
