Roland F. Chesbro

FULTON – Roland F. Chesbro, 90; of Fulton passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Seneca Hill Manor, Volney.  He was born in Fulton, NY to the late Clarence and Alice (Whittemore) Chesbro.  Roland remained a lifetime resident of Fulton, NY.

He was a United States Veteran having served in the Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. Upon his return Mr. Chesbro began working for Dr. Eugene Anthony, as a property manager and personal assistant for over 50 years and well into his early 70’s.

He was a past active member of the Fulton Lion’s Club for 19 years with a perfect attendance record having attended meetings even while he traveled. Mr. Chesbro was also a past member of the Fulton Coin Club.

He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his wife of 60 years, the late Arlene Chesbro and his children and grandchildren. He  loved going to his hunting camp where he and his buddies were known to play cards more than they hunted.

Mr. Chesbro was also pre-deceased by his siblings: Eleanor Biddlecome and Gordon Chesbro and his stepmother: Edna Chesbro. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Karen and Michael Holmes of Henrietta, NY and Alison and John Abbott of Fulton, NY; 3 grandchildren: Ryan (fiancé: Morgan) Holmes of Henrietta, NY, Christopher Abbott of Newport Beach, CA, Nicholas Abbott of Fort Worth, TX; sister-in-law:  Gail Chesbro of Fulton, niece: Amy Hazard and  nephew: Brad Chesbro.

In accordance with Roland’s wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be held privately in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. The Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton, NY 13069 , has care of the arrangements.
