OSWEGO, NY – Ruth Wygant, 95, of Oswego died Sunday, June 18, 2023, in the Oswego Hospital. Mrs. Wygant was born in Massena, the daughter of the late Frederick and Cecilia (Chatelle) Bennett.
Mrs. Wygant and her husband moved to Fulton in 1959, and in 1998 moved to Oswego. She was a former employee of General Electric, Syracuse, Warner Brothers, and Andrew Michaud Nursing Home; but what she enjoyed most was being a homemaker and taking loving care of her family. Mrs. Wygant was a former member of the Columbiette’s and St. Mary’s Church, Oswego.
Mrs. Wygant was predeceased by her husband Albert Wygant in 2014, and their son Michael Wygant in 2009, and her brother Frederick Bennett.
Mrs. Wygant is survived by her loving children Susan (Donald) Crofoot of Martville; Diane (David) Ferris of Oswego; Peggy (Roderick) Longo of Phoenix; Steven (Nancy) Wygant of Oswego; and her daughter-in-law Karen Wygant. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Wendy, Cristina, Shawn, Jeremy, Sara, Brad, and great-grandchildren Catherine, Dalton, Ethan Nicholas, and Justin.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego. Calling hours will be Thursday prior to the service from 4:00 to 6:00 at the funeral home, located at 147 W. 4th. St, Oswego. Graveside services will be Friday July 14, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in Phoenix Rural Cemetery.
