OSWEGO – January 19, 2024, Samuel Rocco Sereno Sr., 88; of Granby, NY passed away at home surrounded by his wife and family.
Sam was born in Oswego, NY to the late James and Mary (Bellardino) Sereno. He has been a resident of Granby, NY for most of his life. Mr. Sereno served in the National Guard and retired from the Boilermakers Local #175, Oswego, NY. In his younger years, Sam also had a short career as a professional boxer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden.
Sam is survived by his amazing wife of 69 years: Joan E. Sereno of Granby, NY and their three sons: Samuel Rocco (Dawn) Sereno Jr., Dominic James Sereno and Christopher James (Tracy) Sereno all of Hannibal, NY; his siblings: Marg Lake, Patty St. John, Rosie Woods, Ursula Mosher and Louise Thayer.
He is also survived by: 7 grandchildren: Dominic Sereno, Jonathon Sereno, Krystal Gebo, Nichole MacDonald, Courtney Pritchard, Kali Troup and Coleton Sereno, 12 great grandchildren (with #13 on the way) and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sam was pre-deceased by his siblings: Joey, Louie, Pete, Mayme and James.
A Graveside Service with Burial will be held in the spring at Hannibal Cemetery, Hannibal, NY. There will be no calling hours.
