FULTON – July 5, 2026, Suzanne Nuffer Balstra, 77, of Liverpool, NY passed peacefully at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY; after a courageous two-year battle against cancer.
Suzanne was born in West Carthage, NY; to the late Gerald C. and Margaret (Williams) Nuffer. A longtime resident of Baldwinsville, NY (for 30 years) she moved to Liverpool, NY to be closer to family 5 years ago. Suzanne graduated from SUNY College at Geneseo, NY. She retired from the Phoenix School District, Phoenix, NY after 36 years as a Speech Therapist at Elm Street Elementary School. Susie was a voracious reader and knitter. She loved to hang and have special times with her grandchildren. Susie also enjoyed travelling and spending time with her sorority sisters of Phi Lamda Chi affectionally called her “Phi Lam sisters,” and her girlfriends she would visit and go to the beaches of Cape Cod, MA and Fair Haven, NY. The countless young lives that Suzanne touched and helped through the years and those who collaborated with her and called her family and a friend were blessed to have had her in their lives.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Alexander “Alex” and Jenelle Balstra of Liverpool, NY; her grandchildren: Jude and Derek Balstra, her siblings: Barbara Nuffer Favreau of LaFayette, NY; C. Michael Nuffer of Lowville, NY and Edward C. Nuffer of FL. and several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her sister: Kathleen Nuffer Davis In accordance with Suzanne’s wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be No Calling Hours.
Burial will be conducted privately at Riverview Cemetery, Beaver Falls, NY.
The Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton, NY has care of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to either Erin’s Angels , Planned Parenthood, or the SPCA of CNY, as Susie was an avid supporter of all three organizations.
