OSWEGO, NY – Teresa Marie Grasso, 71, of Oswego, died Friday morning June 26, 2015, in Oswego Hospital.
She was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late Thomas and Marian (Cernaro) Grasso.
Teresa was a graduate of Oswego High School and CCBI.
She was the secretary for the Dean of Students at SUNY Oswego, for more than 25 years.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church.
Teresa was a former board member with the Heart Association and the Salvation Army.
She was an environmental activist before most people knew what it was; she was a member of the Environmental Support Group, and a chair member of the CSEA.
She was a proud sister of the Beta Chi Sorority.
She was the life of the party and a joker at heart; she enjoyed making people laugh.
Having a happy home was a priority for her and one she devoted her life, too.
She was happiest when the house was full.
Teresa was a loving mother, grandmother, true and good sister and a caring friend.
She is survived by her children: J. Scott (Patti) Tripp of Syracuse and Marianne (Steve) Thomas of Arizona; her stepchildren, Kim Martin Sassa of Oswego and Ken (Roshmi) Martin of Oswego; her siblings, Thomas (Donna) Grasso of Rosendale, Maryann (Michael) Masuicca of Oswego and Joseph (Sue) Grasso of Westmoreland.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brandon (Andreea) Thomas, Evan Thomas, Kaziah Searles, Alexander Tripp, Angelique McDuffie and Cassandra Martin.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Oswego.
Burial will be at a later date.
Calling hours will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego.
