OSWEGO – June 21, 2026, Thomas C. Cleveland, 85; of New Haven, NY; passed away peacefully on June 21st, 2026; at Oswego Hospital, Oswego, NY following a long illness.
Tom was born in Rome, NY to the late Herbert and Doris (Smith) Cleveland. He was raised in Maple View, NY and remained in the area for half his life. Tom was known for his strong work ethic, generosity, kindness, and the many lasting friendships he built throughout his life. The remaining half of his life, Tom was a proud resident of New Haven Town, NY. He took pride in providing for his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those around him. He retired after 20 years from Nestle’s Co., Fulton as a General Foreman. Then he became the Vermillion Cemetery, Mexico, NY; cemetery sexton where he professionally tended to all matters concerning the cemetery for several years. Tom also worked at Hurlburt Farms helping make maple syrup and he was very accomplished in construction having built by hand all his own homes. When Tom finally retired from all outside work he took on the role of full-time Grandpa. He never missed any major event in his grandchildren’s lives. He was truly a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who were honored to have him in their lives.
Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife: Roberta Cleveland in 2015.
He is survived by his three sons: Michael (Liz) Cleveland, Mark Cleveland and Matthew (Laurie) Cleveland; two daughters: Lisa Cleveland and Debra (Pat) Morrison along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The Cleveland Family greatly appreciates the many friendships Tom enjoyed over the years, and the kindness shown to him and his family. In accordance with Tom’s wishes there will be no Calling Hours or Funeral Service.
Burial will be held privately in Vermillion Cemetery, Mexico, NY where he will be laid to rest with his wife in the place he took wonderful care of for so many years.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions in honor of Tom may be made to Vermillion Cemetery, 163 Johnson Road, Mexico, NY 13114.
