Thomas Charles Salmonsen, 88

OSWEGO, NY – Thomas Charles Salmonsen, 88, of Oswego, NY, passed away Saturday March 30, 2019, at St. Luke Health Services, Oswego.

Thomas was born November 23, 1930, to the late George Salmonsen and Margaret Peacock.

He was a United States veteran having served during the Korean War in the Navy aboard the battleship USS Missouri, known as the “Mighty Mo.”

During his early years, Tom worked as an auto mechanic and a welder at Northern Steel until its closure.

He then worked with Wiltse Construction.

Tom enjoyed auto racing, boating, and visiting the casinos.

He was also an avid fan of Tiger Woods.

Tom loved visiting with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his stepfather, Wilson “Rip” Skinner; and brother, Richard Salmonsen.

He is survived by his son, Thomas (Anna) Salmonsen Jr. of Virginia; his daughter, Lisa Salmonsen of Oswego; two brothers, Wilson “Bud” (Barb) Skinner of Oswego and Michael (Lynn) Skinner of Arizona; his companion, Mary Lou Shortt; five grandchildren, Richard James Salmonsen, Christopher Thomas Salmonsen, Tia Marie Salmonsen, Cody Michael Salmonsen and Caylyn Jade Wright Salmonsen; one great-grandchild, Michael Liam Byrd; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and good friends.

According to Tom’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

Burial will be held privately.
