Virginia Cardinal, 79

FULTON, NY – Virginia Cardinal, 79, of formerly of Fulton, died Sunday December 21, 2014, at Cortland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Cortland, NY.

Ginny was born May 12, 1935, in Syracuse, NY, to the late Victor and Loretta (Mott) Cardinal.

She had been a resident of Fulton for most of her life.

Ginny was a 1953 graduate of Fulton High School and she continued her studies at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Syracuse, graduating in 1956 as a Registered Nurse.

Ginny was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1983 as a major in the Nurses’ Corps.

While she was in the service, Ginny traveled extensively in the United States and across Europe.

After retirement, she enjoyed bingo, going to the casino and golfing.

She was a past communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Fulton.

Ginny was a member of the Retired Officers Association, American Nurses Association, and Catholic Daughters of America Court Pere LeMoyne.

She is survived by her sister, Elaine Pickard of Baldwinsville, NY; her niece, Ann Pickard; two nephews, John (Michelle) and Edward Pickard; dear friend, Carol Gordon; and cousins, Ann Singleton and David Cardinal.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Fulton, in the spring.

Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
