FULTON – May 13, 2025, William H. “Bill” Rasbeck Sr., 94; of Fulton, NY passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 13th, 2025.
He was born on November 6, 1930; in Albany, NY to the late Amber Edwards Scholz. He has been long time resident of Fulton living with his family along the beautiful Oswego River. Bill graduated from High School in 1949 from Sidney Central School and then received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cortland State University in 1953. He entered the United States Army and honorably served from 1953 to 1955. During his service to our nation, he married his soulmate in 1954, the former Pauline Martin. They have happily enjoyed 70 years of marriage. Upon Bill’s discharge from the Army, he began teaching Physical Education and coached football, basketball, and track at Hancock Central School from 1955-1959. He then taught Science and coached football at Camden Central School from 1959-1961. During his tenure at Camden, he was also instrumental in beginning the high school wrestling team. Mr. Rasbeck took a position as principal at the Sidney Central School from 1961-1965. While working full-time Bill finished his Master’s degree from Colgate University and a 2nd Master’s degree from Syracuse University. He continued his career as a Superintendent at Madison Central School from 1965-1971; Tully Central School from 1971-1981 and the Fulton Consolidated School District from 1981 until his retirement in 1988. Bill was a very successful educator and man. He served as president of Section III Athletics and Rural Schools Assoc. He was fully involved in the construction of the present Fulton YMCA and at one time served as interim director and president of the board of directors. Bill also served on the Fulton Salvation Army board of directors and president of the Noon Fulton Rotary Club and a Paul Harris member of the Rotary.
William is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years: B. Pauline Rasbeck of Fulton, their three children: William H. (Barbara) Rasbeck Jr. of Syracuse, NY; Karen Mae (Ralph) Brungard of Gouverneur, NY and Theodore Martin Rasbeck of Fulton, NY; his grandchildren: Megan (Greg) Savage of NC, Sarah (Kyle) Everett of Cicero, NY and Dawn Brungard of Tupper Lake, NY. He is also survived by five great grandchildren: Andrew Savage, Carter Savage, Nathan Savage, Peyton Everett and Taylor Everett, his sister Katrinka (Garth) Rasbeck Howe of FL and several nieces and nephews.
Bill’s wife and family will greet family and friends from 11:00 to Noon, Thursday, May 29th; at the First United Methodist Church, Fulton, NY. A Memorial Service will follow at Noon in the church with Pastor Ruth Rosa Warner officiating.
Burial will be conducted in Mt. Adnah Cemetery, Fulton.
The Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton has care of the arrangements.
