EAST SYRACUSE – Gene Johnson, 68, of Florida and East Syracuse, died Wednesday Aug. 13, 2008, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse.
He was born Dec. 31, 1939 in Mexico, NY.
He retired from Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. after 25 years.
He was a communicant of St. Matthew’s Church, East Syracuse.
He was an US Air Force veteran.
He attended SUNY Oswego prior to joining the Air Force.
He was predeceased by his father, Ellis “Peanut” Johnson and a sister, Bonnie (Johnson) Niles.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sharon (Barney) Johnson; two sons, Erik Johnson of Florida and Ryan Johnson of Pennellville, NY; one sister, Nancy (Johnson) Vendetti of Florida; four brothers, Stefan (of Oswego), Mike, Leonard and Richard Yablonski; his mother, Iona “Sandy” Yablonski of Mexico; three granddaughters; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Forani & Cline Funeral Home.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse.
