James B. Pryse, 77, of Oswego, passed away peacefully at Oswego Hospital on Saturday, November 19, 2022 after a brief but courageous fight with lung cancer.
Born in Kentucky and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Mary Catherine Mayes and Raymond Pryse. Jim served in the US Navy during the Vietnam war, and after leaving the military moved to Oswego where he married Mary E. Laird. He worked at Novelis for 52 years.
After his divorce, he moved in and cared for his partner Margaret Laird for almost 20 years. Margaret\’s family are forever grateful to him for the love and care he gave to our mom and our family, it will never be forgotten.
Surviving are his niece Katie Laird of Washington DC, and his nephew Daniel Laird of Oswego, NY. He loved and cared for Dan’s children as if they were his own grandkids as well, Kaleigh, William, and Ash. The family is very thankful for the help of Jim’s best friend, Jim Ahart, for being there for Jim these past months.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio at Spring Grove Cemetery on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed at www.springgrove.org.
