James Francis Miner, 83, 07/08/2008

OSWEGO, NY – James Francis Miner, 83, a resident of 253 E. Seventh St., died on Tuesday July 8, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, after a short illness.

He was born in Mottsville, NY, on April 6, 1925, the oldest son of six
children of the late Warren and Josephine (Bethka) Miner.

He attended Oswego schools and then served in the United States Army in the Philippines during World War II.

He was employed with the Fitzgibbons Boiler Company and the Armstrong Corporation.

Throughout his life, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed bowling and square dancing.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Jennie Bendzunas; three daughters, Diane (John) Keiffer of Clifton Springs, Margaret (Brian) Kocher of Scriba and Mary Patricia Cole of Oswego; one granddaughter, Erika Kocher; and three sisters: Eleanor (Ward) See of Scriba, Dorothy Davis of Florida and Dolores Tochtone of Florida.

He was predeceased by two brothers, David and Donald Miner; and a son-in-law, James A. Cole Jr.

A Memorial mass will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from St. Paul’s Church.

There are no calling hours.

Contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are in care of the Dowdle Funeral Home.
