HOUSTON, TX – Jane Katheleen Sharkey Pelton, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 21, 1945, in Oswego, New York, and lived a life filled with devotion, warmth, and deep love for her family. In 1977, Jane moved to Houston, Texas, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Jane was married to David William Pelton, Sr. on July 20th, 1963, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Marshall Sharkey, Sr.; her brother, Marshall Sharkey, Jr. (Sunny); and her son-in-law, Dennis Bailey.
She is survived by her four children: David Pelton, Jr. (Shari Gray); Shawn Pelton (Kimberly); Penny Jane Bailey; and Chris Pelton (Amy).
She is also survived by her loving sisters: Joyce (Thomas) Pavek; Mary Young; Marjorie (Timothy) Malone; Julie (Timothy) DeSacia, and sister-in-law Janice Sharkey.
Jane was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren and a joyful great-grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren. Her happiest moments were spent in the company of her family—sharing stories, laughter, and love across generations.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she cherished.
Services will be held to honor Jane’s memory on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025 at Veterans Funeral Services (10567 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038). Visitation begins at 11:30 am, followed by Chapel service at 1:00 pm, and then burial at the Houston National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations can be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
