John Alexander Thompson, 84

John Alexander Thompson of Fair Haven, NY and Hillsboro Beach, FL passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2009.

Born December 20, 1924 in Martville, NY, John was raised in Hannibal, NY and was a long time resident of Pittsford, NY and the Florida Keys. John was the owner and general manager of the Howard & Bowen Corporation in Rochester, NY having started his career with Container Corporation of America. Actively involved in his community, John was a long time Rochester Rotarian and Past Potentate of the Damascus Temple. John and his wife, Arlene were very active in other charitable organizations as major contributors to Mariner’s Hospital in Tavernier, FL and Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches.

He is survived by Arlene, his wife of 59 years; three daughters, Linda Rudd, Patricia Clarke-Piorek and Nancy Thompson; his adoring grandchildren, Alexander Clarke and Shelby Rudd; sisters, Mary Lou Reed and Margie Cole and brother, David Thompson. John also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 14th at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal, NY.
