OSWEGO, NY – Kenneth E. Murray, 78, a former resident of Oswego, died on Oct. 12, 2008, in Palm Bay, Fla.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late George and Jessie (Wilmott) Murray.
He was a graduate of Oswego Normal School and Oswego High School.
He had been employed as an agent and later a supervisor for the Port of Oswego Authority.
He worked at the grain elevator for 34 years, retiring in 1984.
Mr. Murray was a member of Elks Lodge #271 and the Knights of Columbus.
In Palm Bay, he was a member of Moose Lodge #2311.
In his younger years, he was an avid baseball and basketball player.He also enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Charlotte Shepard; a son, Randall (Mary Ann) Murray of Oswego; two daughters, Diana (Dirk) Forbes of Oswego and Donna (Robert) Beardsley of Winston-Salem, NC; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Elieen Liedlich and Anna Mae Koska; and three brothers, George, Howard and Paul Murray.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.
Entombment will be in All Saint’s Mausoleum.
