Lawrence Michael Pidgeon, 64, 10/24/2008

OSWEGO, NY – Lawrence Michael Pidgeon, 64, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Manchester, Mass., on Oct. 24, 2008.

He was born in Oswego, NY, and was the son of James C. Pidgeon and Ruth (Snyder) Pidgeon.

Larry graduated from Oswego Catholic High in 1962, and was a member of John Naioti’s championship basketball teams in the early 1960s.

He graduated from St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY, in 1966, where he received his commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Upon graduation from the University of Toledo Law School, he entered active duty and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was honorably discharged with the rank of captain.

Returning to Oswego in 1972, he first clerked for Judge Ringland Murray, later went into the practice of law with Hosmer Culkin, and subsequently formed a partnership with James Eby.

Larry moved to the Boston area in 1978, started his own criminal law practice, and was currently a partner in the law firm of Metaxas, Norman and Pidgeon, Beverly, Mass.

He was an avid basketball and tennis player, right up until his untimely death.

He is survived by his brothers, John S. (Nancy) Pidgeon of Oswego and James Pidgeon (Susan) of Cranford, NJ; his former wife, Sheila P. Hill of Manchester, Mass.; a nephew, John C. Pidgeon; and nieces, Kathryn McCrobie, Ann Callender, and Amy Pidgeon.

A celebration of life was held at the Essex County Club, Manchester, of which Larry was a member.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego, NY.

Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at the funeral home.

Private burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
