OSWEGO, NY – M. Irene Lafond, 86, a resident of Bishop Commons, peacefully passed away Monday March 15, 2010, in Oswego Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born in Montreal, Canada, and was the daughter of the late Alexandre and Alexina Trembley Galant.
She grew up and met the love of her life, Gerard, and they married in Montreal.
The Lafonds started their family and eventually moved to Oswego, NY.
She was doting mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed traveling to visit her grandchildren.
She was a former communicant of St. John’s Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and choir.
Mrs. Lafond was active with the Oswego Figure Skating Club serving as an officer.
She also enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary’s School Library and she was an avid gardener.
Mrs. Lafond was the loving wife of Gerard L. Lafond of Oswego.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Danielle (Bill) Stephenson of Pennsylvania, Lynne (Rock) Morris of Oswego and Gisele (Eugene) Kim of Pennsylvania; four sons, Pierre Lafond of Rochester, Michel (Carol) Lafond of New Jersey, Marc Lafond of Arizona and Richard (Ellen) Lafond of Oswego; and 14 grandchildren.
She passed on to a better place and Irene will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday 10 a.m. from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
