Mabel (Midge) Maher Witt

Mabel (Midge) Maher Witt of the Highland Lakes community in Leesburg FL passed away peacefully on November 2, 2022 at the age of 98.

She was born on March 26, 1924 in Fulton NY to William F. and Edna (McFarland) Maher. Having grown up as one of eleven children, she often told stories about her lively and loving childhood. As an adult, Midge enjoyed both a successful career in social services and raising her five children.

After spending some of her early adult years in Cobleskill, NY, she relocated to Florida, where she lived for her remaining 60-plus years, making it her adopted home. Midge was known for her witty intelligence; love of travel; and for participating in local theater productions, golf, challenging word games and puzzles, and a host of community activities.

Midge is survived by three of her children; Mark Cramer, Edward Cramer, and Kathryn Johnson; and several grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Zill Witt; two of her children, William Cramer and Kristine Cramer; her parents; and her siblings Clifford Maher, James Maher, Eileen Anderson, Edna Menuez, John Maher, Robinson (Bud) Maher, Margaret Nelson, Mary Pat Taylor, William Maher, and Dorothy Jean Fultz. No service is planned. Donations in Midge’s memory may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
