MSgt. Robert E. Hook (Ret.), 78

MSgt. Robert E. Hook (Ret.), 78, of Fulton, formerly of Syracuse, passed away August 28, 2008 at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Syracuse, he grew up in Cazenovia.  Robert attended Syracuse City Schools and graduated from Cazenovia High School.  He received degrees in agriculture from S.U.N.Y. Morrisville, Cornell University and received his Masters Degree from S.U.N.Y. Oswego.  Robert’s work history included working on a dairy farm in Cazenovia, Vocational Agriculture Instructor in DeRuyter, a fertilizer/agriculture chemical and feed salesman and serviceman for Beacon Feeds and Agway.  He also worked in rural insurance sales, as a security guard and was self employed with Amway.

Robert was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and he retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Master Sergeant in 1990.  While in the Army, Robert was a part of the 736th AAA BN and the 376th Combat Support Hospital in Liverpool.

He was a member and past president of the Weedsport Lions Club, a former vice chairman, county treasurer and candidate with the Cayuga County Conservative Committee.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Matilda Rasmussen Hook; his wife, Ellyn Guppy Hook and a daughter, Susan Regan, who both died in 1999.

He is survived by two sons, David (Kym) Hook of North Las Vegas, NV and Steven Hook of Auburn; daughter, Johna (Kevin) Waldron of Fulton; sister, Nancy Hamel of Syracuse; brother, Peter Hook of Oswego; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours or funeral services.  Foster Funeral Home, Fulton has charge of arrangements.  Contributions may be made to the ICU at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, 510 South Fourth Street, Fulton, 13069.
