Peter D. Zanewych, 85 and a resident of 112 W. Cayuga St. in Oswego died Saturday morning in the Oswego Hospital. He was born in Fulton and was the son of the late John and Mary Comicka Zanewych.

Peter was the husband of Charline Peters Zanewych and recently had celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.. He had been employed for many years as a laboratory technician with Hammermill and International Paper Companies.

He was a graduate of Fulton High School and was a member of the Oswego Masonic Lodge,a life Member of the Oswego Elk’s Lodge #271, The Scottish Right in Syracuse and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Peter was actively involved with Fast pitch Softball, The Hammermill Bowling league and was an avid fisherman and golfer.

Peter served in the US Army during WWII in the European and Pacific Theaters. He was a member of the VFW Lodge 5885 and the 793rd Military Police Association.

In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by one son John Zanewych of Medina, Ohio, two sisters Julia Wallace of Fulton, Estelle Holmes of Granby and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters Mary Barton, Anna Robinson and three brothers Michael Zanewych, Enoch Zanewych and Charles Zanewych.

Funeral services will be Wed. 11:00AM at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor David Roppel officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 4-7PM at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
