Raymond E. Davenport, 63, of Hannibal, died Monday at the VA Hospital in Syracuse.

Born in Baldwinsville, he was a life resident of the Hannibal area. Ray retired after 5 years of service as a bus driver for A&E Transportation and had previously been employed at Rollaway Bearings in Liverpool for 29 years. Ray was an Army veteran serving in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971 earning a bronze star. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a Mark Martin fan. Ray was predeceased by his son, Wayne Davenport, who died in 1975.

Surviving: his wife of 37 years, Shirley Davenport of Hannibal; three daughters, Susan (Charlie) Janes, Joyce (Derek) Kerr all of Hannibal and Tammy (Josh) Wilkinson of Volney; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Hope Borrows of OK and Emily Burt of Moravia; brothers, Michael Davenport of MI, Gene Davenport of Hannibal and Christopher Davenport of Mexico; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m. Friday with a 6 p.m. service to immediately follow at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons Street, P.O. Box 7, East Syracuse, 13057.
