FULTON, NY – Richard “Dick” Hitchcock, 80, of 67 Patrick Circle, Fulton, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton.

Richard J. HitchcockRichard was a native of Oswego, NY, and lived in Fulton for the past 55 years.

He retired in 1994 as a maintenance supervisor from SUNY Oswego.

Previously he worked for Montgomery Ward and Co., in the automotive Department, the Container Corp., and Firestone Tire and Rubber Co.

Before that, he and his dad, “Dick Hitchcock,” owned and operated the old Rotary Gas Station on the corner of South First and Oneida streets.

He also worked for Snap-On Tool Co.

Dick was a member of the Fulton VFW Post #569, the St. Michael’s Club, and the Fulton Polish Home.

He enjoyed golfing with the Senior Golf League and he and his wife were both active in ballroom and polka dancing.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Josephine (Kush) Hitchcock of Fulton; his daughter, Linda Hitchcock/Lindop of San Francisco, Calif.; three sons, Stephen Hitchcock of Fair Haven, NY, David (Sylvia) Hitchcock of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Alan Hitchcock of Fulton; three grandchildren, Zachary and Cassandra Lindop and Jennifer Hitchcock; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Jack and Charles Hitchcock; and his sister, Mary “May” Victory.

Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Sugar Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church where Rev. Guy Baccaro will celebrate a mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.

Calling hours will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Friday in the Sugar Funeral Home, 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, NY.
