Richard V. Coyer, 67, 08/07/2008

OSWEGO, NY – Richard V. Coyer, 67, a former resident of Oswego and a resident of Las Vegas for the past 13 years, died on August 7, 2008, in Goshen NY, while attending a family reunion.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Frederick J. and Mary ((Hurley) Coyer Jr.

He was a graduate of St. Mary’s School and Oswego Catholic High School and had attended the State University College at Oswego for two years.

He was the owner of the Richard V. Coyer Insurance Agency in Oswego for more than 25 years and continued his work while living in Las Vegas.

Mr. Coyer was a proud member of the U.S. Army Reserve for 13 years and as a captain was the Company Commander at the Oswego Armory.

He was a former member of the Oswego Elk’s Lodge #271.

He enjoyed golf, but his main passions were hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, the former Barbara Sanford; his son, Christopher (Yun) Coyer of Las Vegas; two granddaughters, Janet Cresegiona of Watertown and Carolyn Cavalieri of Las Vegas; a sister, Barbara (Edward) Caraccioli of Oswego; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Frederick J. Coyer III; and his sister, Margaret Stevens.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Dowdle Funeral Home.
