DELAWARE, OHIO – Stephen C. Sattler, 82, of Delaware, Ohio, died January 2, 2024.
He was born July 23, 1941 in Bluefield, West Virginia, son of Charles L. and Bernice (Smith) Sattler. On
April 9, 1965, while serving with the United States Army in the Panama Canal Zone, he married Kathleen
Crouch, who survives him.
Also surviving him are his two sons, Stephen W. Sattler (Michelle) of Westerville, Ohio, and Eric G. Sattler
of Delaware, Ohio. In addition, he leaves six grandchildren, Allison Smith (Dustin), Zachary, Hannah,
Emma, Ian Sattler, Erica Cremeans, a son-in-law, Eric Cremeans, and two great-grandchildren, Aubree and
Macie.
His daughter, Summer J. Cremeans, and brothers, Dr. Scott L. Sattler of Eureka, California, and Charles C.
Sattler of Tiffin, Ohio, predeceased him.
Stephen lived in Tiffin, Ohio, as a young man, graduating from Clinton Township Elementary School in
1955. He also attended Tiffin Columbian High School before transferring to and graduating from Admiral
Farragut Academy in Pine Beach, New Jersey. He attended Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine,
for three years and later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mount
Vernon Nazarene College in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
He was employed in the manufacture and sale of rubber and plastic industrial hose most of his working
life beginning in 1966 with the Swan Rubber Company of Bucyrus, Ohio. In 1990, Swan merged with Dayco
Products of Dayton, Ohio, and in 2000, Dayco Products merged with Cleveland based Parker Hannifin
Corporation, from which he retired in 2007.
He was a Past Master of Sandy Creek (New York) Lodge 564 F&AM, a 10-year retired member of the
Sandy Creek (New York) Volunteer Fire Department, founder of WSCP Radio of Sandy Creek-Pulaski, New
York, a lifetime member of the Lacona (New York) VFW, past Secretary of the New York State Shorthorn
Association, a lifetime member of the Sandy Creek Fair Association, member of Woodworkers of Central
Ohio, and a past member of the Oswego County (New York) Legislature. He was blessed with the love of
his family and many wonderful friends across the country.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 12 noon at the Snyder-
Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William Street, Delaware Ohio. Memorial services will
follow at 1:30 pm, with The Reverend Christopher Klukas officiating. Military honors will be provided by
the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1095 and members of the United States Army. Burial will be in
Woodlawn Cemetery in Sandy Creek, New York, on a date to be determined.
Donations may be made to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, in memory of his daughter, Summer Joy
Cremeans.
