Virginia Giambo, 96, 09/28/2008

OSWEGO, NY – Virginia Giambo, 96, of Liberty Street, Oswego, died Sunday evening Sept. 28, 2008, in St. Luke Health Services.

She was born in Italy and has been a resident of Oswego for most of her life.

Mrs. Giambo worked for the Diamond Match Factory in Oswego, Marathon Paper, Papertronics, and the Candy Works of Oswego.

Mrs. Giambo was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and a member of the St. Anne’s Society, and the Dante Alghieri Auxiliary, and the McCorbie Senior Citizen Group.

Mrs. Giambo was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Giambo, in 1984; her daughter, Antoinette Giambo, in 1987; her grandson, Thomas Giambo; and great-grandson, Philip Giambo.

Mrs. Giambo is survived by her sons, Samuel Giambo of Oswego, Joseph (Mary Anne) Giambo of Altamont, NY, Thomas (Judy) Giambo of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Andrew Baranski.

Burial will be in All Saints’ Mausoleum, Oswego.

There will be no calling hours.
