Walter Joseph Buell

ONONDAGA COUNTY – Walter Joseph Buell, 90, died peacefully on February 13, 2025 at his home in Kirkville surrounded by family.
He lived a full life and loved his family immensely. Walt taught for most of his career at Westhill High School where he had a heart for the “B” students. He was a great encourager of the underdog. It’s a testament to him that former students still kept in touch until his passing.
As for his grandkids, class was always in session. He would regale them with stories of his past growing up in Fulton or drop pearls of wisdom on them about life, often unsolicited. His “Papa-isms” will live on, and he will truly be missed.
Walter is survived by his wife, Bernie; children Scott (Diane) and Tracey McCarthy (Dennis); grandchildren Brennan, Elyce, Colby (Jordan), Graham, Reggie, and Shay. Walter was a proud industrial arts alumnus of SUNY Oswego.
