Wesley L. Lyons, 86

FULTON, NY – Wesley L. Lyons, 86, of Fulton, NY, died Saturday June 5, 2010, at Oswego Hospital.

He was born in Minetto and had been a resident of Minetto for most of his life.

Mr. Lyons was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps in the 8th Squadron as a Flying Sergeant.

Mr. Lyons was honored during his service with the following medals and awards:  American Campaign Medal, Navy Occupation SVC Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Marine Corps Sharpshooter Rifle Badge, Honorable Service Lapel Button, and the Marine Corps Honorable Discharge Button.

He was past employed with Ball & Wilson, Oswego, NY.

Mr. Lyons was an avid Yankee fan.

He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Margaret (Forbes) Lyons, in 2005; and his son, John Lyons, in 2004.

He is survived by his children:  Wesley Lyons Jr. of Oswego, Margaret (Harrison) Wilde of Hannibal and Terry (Jennifer) Lyons of Panama, and Michele (Mark) Sherman of Fulton; two brothers:  Norman “Tom” Lyons of Minetto and Howard Lyons of Oswego;  13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 10 a.m.  Tuesday at the Sugar Funeral Home, 224 W. Second  St. S., Fulton with Rev. Richard Morisette officiating.

Burial with Military Honors will be conducted in Minetto Cemetery, Minetto.

There will be no calling hours.
