William H. “Bill†Williams, 86, of Sterling, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born January 4, 1923 at the family homestead in Sterling where he spent his lifetime. Bill grew up on the family farm which became his lifetime residence. He was a graduate of Hannibal High School; was a self-employed farmer and a member of the Dairylea Cooperative Inc.; past member of the Hannibal Kiwanis and a 1985 retiree of Alcan Corp, Oswego.
Bill was a lifelong member of the Sterling Valley Community Church where he served as an elder and trustee. He enjoyed golf, games, puzzles and nature. He loved his family and God. Bill’s gentleness, kindness, patience and humor touched everyone who had the privilege to know him. He will be greatly missed.
Many thanks to his friend, Pastor Gordon Wendell and to the staff at St. Luke, Oswego for their six months of care and comfort.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Clara Williams; sisters, Mary Cooper, Betty Malone, Merle Irwin and Edith Dennison.
He is survived by his spouse, Mary Paige Williams; daughters, Mary (Rosario) Leotta of Fulton, Marsha (Carl) Guth of Webster, Marlena (Thomas) LaClair of Pulaski and their mother, Dorothy Williams of Fulton; step-children, John (Maria) Paige of New Jersey, Elizabeth (David) Welch of Red Creek and Judson (Lynn) Paige of Illinois; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one step-great-grandson; brother-in-law, Harold Dennison; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Sterling Valley Community Church, Sterling Valley Road at MacNiel Road, Sterling Valley with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Springbrook Cemetery, Sterling. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal.
