Open Auditions Set For Players’ World War I Comedy

OSWEGO – Oswego Players’ director Rick Sivers announced that open auditions will be held on March 27 and 28 for the upcoming production of “My War With The United States.”

The comedy will be staged in May in the Frances Marion Brown Theater in the Oswego Civic Arts Center as part of the Bemelmans Festival.

“My War With The United States” was adapted from Ludwig Bemelmans’ account of his time in the U.S. Army, part of it spent at Fort Ontario in 1917.

Bemelmans later wrote the popular children’s books about the little girl Madeline.

The play, written by Sivers, has roles for men from age 19 to 60 and for women 19 to mid-50s.

Bemelmans was 19 at the time of his arrival at Fort Ontario and wrote about the humorous incidents in which he was involved while at the fort.

Those incidents form the core of the play.

Auditions will be held in the Frances Marion Brown Theater starting at 7 p.m. on the 27th and 28th.

Auditions will use the script and persons interested should come at 7 p.m. to sign in.

No advance registration is required.
