Asking Questions?

On November 3rd 2026 the registered voters of Oswego County will be going to the polls to elect Oswego County Legislators.

What everyone should be checking is who is asking questions and what answers they are receiving! Asking questions about how your tax dollars are being spent and the most important thing is who is asking the questions being asked.

Now asking those questions is great unless you are a member of the Republican majority of the Oswego County Legislature. For the Republican controlled legislature, the questions being asked make them uncomfortable. It also makes the Department Heads uncomfortable only because they are under the control of the Republican party.

Leading the way for the questions that the 7 Democratic Legislators are asking, is none other than Marie Schadt as Minority Leader. When she raises her hand in committee or on the Legislative floor, the opposition party starts to sweat. When any of her fellow party members(all new this year) ask questions in committee 9 out of 10 times they are told that someone will get back to them with the answer.

Take some time and watch some of the committee meetings on YouTube,(go to search, type in Oswego county legislative meeting) See how and who asks questions and who gives answers.

Also keep in mind that of the 18 Republican Legislators all voted in favor of a 2026 Budget that gave themselves another raise. That is the 9th time they have voted for themselves to receive a raise. Keep that in mind, also they voted to spend almost $40,000 dollars to have the Oswego County logo on the front of a race truck. Then they voted to reduce the funds for CAC(Child Advocacy Center) that’s right spend money on Advertising but cut spending for Children. Then they also voted to increase the fees for your Oswego County children to use Oswego County facilities, yes the facilities your tax dollars already pay for. Great bunch aren’t they.

Keep all of this in mind when you go to vote. I’m talking to all voters not just Democrats.

So in ending remember, those that can vote, vote Marie Schadt back into office so she can continue to work hard to reduce the size of the Legislature and cut spending, leading her Minority Caucus, also vote for the 6 seated Democratic Legislators and vote for more Democratic Legislators to join them, to make the Legislative body be more equal.
