What do you do when you get caught in the act of doing something wrong?
In your private life, you lie and pretend it never happened!
In Government, you change the rules to cover up what you did.
The second is what happened this past month in your Oswego County legislature.
For the past decades a process of passing any and all Budget modifications was a follows:
Any and all budget modifications had to be signed by any member of the committee that had voted in favor of the budget modification.
That didn’t happen with PS1, how do you fix that? You falsify the records. You have members of the Legislature sign a budget modification (at the time deemed a requirement and an official document). This is the Government’s way of CYA.
But they got caught.
What did they do. Now they say the signatures aren’t required and the process should be changed.
The four caught (what at the time appeared to be a fraudulent act) are a vice-chairman, majority leader, and whip. Not knowing at the time, that the process was going to be deemed unnecessary, they knew it was a cover up and didn’t think they would get caught.
They did get caught, therefore the change in the process is forthcoming.
Not surprising now is it, this is your Republican controlled county government at work.
Republican or Democrat controlled coverups should not be tolerated.
Corruption isn’t born at the State and Federal level of Government ,its incubator is local government.
