Child Advocacy Center Acknowledges Community Support

To The Editor:
In this season of thankfulness, on behalf of our board of directors and the hundreds of children and their families that we serve at the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, I extend my sincerest thanks to those caring businesses and individuals who have supported our events throughout the year.

Our inaugural Fiesta Masquerade and our annual Chicken Wing & Micro-Brew Fest, along with other events helped raise more than $30,000 to support the CAC’s mission of providing vital services to children who have been sexually or physically abused, neglected or maltreated.

The CAC provided services to 475 children and their families last year.

The success of our events enables us to continue and assist children in Oswego County that are in desperate need of our services.

The support we have received from the community members that attended our events, our board of directors, and our event sponsors is truly inspiring.

A very special thank you to: C&S Companies, Elizabeth and Harvey Fadden, Nelson Law Firm, Gregory and Karen Oakes, Engel Law Firm, St. Joseph’s Imaging, Eagle Beverage, Assemblyman Will Barclay, DYNEGY, Mitchell’s Speedway Press, MetLife, Pathfinder Bank, Custom Marketing Solutions, I Heart Oswego, Cre8 Studios, Furdi’s Homes, Legislator Amy Tresidder, Oswego County Federal Credit Union, CNY Marriage & Family Therapy Place, PLLC, the Finley family, Fulton Savings Bank, Joe Bush Collision, Lakeside Family Dentistry, Mimi’s Drive-In, Amdursky, Pelky, Fennell, and Wallen Law Firm, Eben and Kristin Norfleet, Steven Stacey, DDS, Friends of James Eby, Pinnacle Builders, Donna Ascenzi, CPA, Diane Cooper-Currier, Purima Vyavaharkar Pediatric Practice, Dr. James Campbell, Lake Ontario Photo Booth, Syracuse Sand & Gravel, LLC, Gosch Supply & Lighting, Furlong Properties, Big John Sales, DeVine Designs, Bill Fischer, Integrative Spa Healing, Park family, Allison Chase of Lake Ontario Trolley, JP Jewelers, and Wal-Mart.

The Shineman Foundation and Jim & Juli Boeheim Foundation were also instrumental in providing special training opportunities this year.

We also want to acknowledge all of the in-kind donations of goods and services from other Oswego County groups and businesses such as:  Prince of Peace Church, Jimmie James BBQ, Canale’s, Greene’s Ale House, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Lighthouse Lanes, Red Sun Fire Roasting Company, The Press Box, Steamers, Kristen’s Kitchen at Battle Island Clubhouse, The Office Tavern and Restaurant, Garafolo’s, Mark Lavonier from NPR, Melanie Trexler from the United Way, and many others whose generosity and spirit do a lot of good for the children.

It takes tremendous courage for children and their families to speak up about unimaginable things that happen to them most often by people they like, live with or love.

Our events not only raise much needed funds to allow services to continue, they also send a message to the children that there are a lot of good people in the community who are here to help.

I hope it also sends a message to people who perpetrate crimes against children…that being ‘we stand together against abusive behavior in our community to our children.

Thank you again for the overwhelming community support we received and thank you for recognizing the Child Advocacy Center and the work that we do to help child abuse victims in Oswego County.

Sincerely,

Karrie Damm
