Dear Editor and Members of the Fulton Community:
My name is David Cordone, and I am a candidate for the Fulton Board of Education. I previously served on the Fulton Board of Education 2001-2007, 2011-2023. I have served as Vice President (2006-2007) and President (2012-2017). As an experienced leader, I received the “Award for Extraordinary Service to Public Education” by the Central New York School Boards Association and “School Board Member of the Year” by the Oswego County School Boards Association in 2017. I am currently a member of the CiTi BOCES Board of Education (2015-present). I am a lifelong resident of Fulton and a graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School. I am currently an Adjunt Instructor for SUNY Oswego, in the Curriculum and Instruction Department of the college, and a recently retired principal from the North Syracuse CSD and have been an educator for 35 years.
I have two sons, who graduated from the Fulton City School District in 2021 and 2022. My oldest son, David Jr, is graduating from Niagara University this month, and he has been accepted into the Doctoral Program for Chemistry at Syracuse University, beginning this fall. My youngest son, Noah, is graduating from Cayuga Community College this month as well, and he will be transferring to a four-year-school to complete his bachelor’s degree in Education this fall. Both of my sons were well prepared by the Fulton City School District for their college careers, and I believe all of our students should have the same opportunities for success.
I believe in ethical and transparent leadership. I have never benefited personally from my years of board service with the Fulton City School District. I have not been employed by the Fulton CSD during my professional career, nor have I applied for employment by the District. In addition, I have no family members employed by the Fulton City School District.
As a former board member of more than two decades, I have been a dedicated advocate for public education. I have advocated at the local, state and federal levels on behalf of our community for funding and resources, and to inform policy decisions. I believe that all children should have access to solid academic programs and extracurricular activities to make them well-rounded, and I believe that these opportunities must be provided in an economically responsible manner. As a proven leader, I ask for your support on May 21st. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Respectfully submitted by,
David Cordone, Fulton Board of Education Candidate
