Frank Castiglia Jr.: Duplication Of Services

At the last Human Services Committee meeting a resolution HS-2 was presented and passed unanimously.

It was presented as a renewal of a contract. They failed to mention a Cost of Living raise to the WDB (Workforce Development Board) or it’s Duplication of Services.

Let’s look at the Duplication of Services first. In a nutshell this board over looks the Workforce programs ensuring the proper disbursements are made.

This is what we pay our State Comptroller’s Office to do and we also pay for an audit on a yearly basis.

Now let’s get back to that cost of living raise. They slipped this in. They are asking for $6,000 raise in their costs. Now the cost of living raises that all of us  that are on SS received  was only 2.3%. They are asking for a 5.3% cost of living raise.

The Oswego County Legislature should say NO to this contract on the basis of Duplication of Services and also say NO on the grounds that the cost of living raise is out of line. We have people out of work and businesses closing and they are asking for a raise.

If they don’t vote this down, they are not thinking about the taxpayers.

Frank Castiglia Jr.
