Frank Castiglia Jr.: Stop The Burning Of Taxpayer Money

In August we were told about Mr. Backus leaving his elected position as County Clerk. One that he was attempting to again gain our votes to be elected to in the November elections.

Whether or not he knew about his appointment to the Oswego Health position prior to his decision to run for another term as our County Clerk is very important.

Within days of Mr. Backus announcing his pending withdrawal from the County Clerk position Mr. Terry Wilbur announced his intentions to run a write-in campaign for County Clerk. Coincidence ? I doubt it very much.

In Mr. Backus’ terms as our County Clerk he has increased expenditures while revenues declined in the County DMV. Yes he was still bringing in revenues but his profit margin was shrinking. Here are the numbers to verify these claims:

2013-Revenue-$2,253,000 Appropriations-$910,463 County Net gain-$1,342,537

2019-Revenue-$2,145,00 Appropriations-$926,367 County Net gain-$1,218,633

2020-Reveue-$2,170,000(?)Appropriations-$1,090,408(?) County Net gain-$1,079,592(?)

In the years Mr. Backus has been in office his department has lost just in the DMV $262,945 over all in all the County Clerk Dept. he has lost $201,044.

During this time Mr. Wilbur has voted yes to every Appropriation requested by Mr. Backus.

Now Mr. Wilbur would like you to write in his name as County Clerk. 

Please “Stop the Burn” do not write in Mr. Wilbur’s name.

Please vote for Mr. Backus forcing a special election next year when two or three candidates may vie for the job and your vote. Make them stand on their merits and votes and answer your questions.
