I reached out to James Corl after seeing one of his campaign ads. My husband and I live in Cicero, and I was curious about the young candidate asking to represent our district. To my surprise, he answered personally and agreed to meet for coffee.
I’m glad I asked.
I was born and raised in Central New York, then spent years living on both the East and West Coasts, always saying I’d never come back. And yet here I am, about to celebrate ten years of marriage, owning my first home, and building a life in the home I once swore I’d leave behind for good.
James talked about wanting Central New York to be a place where multiple generations can stay, return, build lives, and thrive. That message resonated with me personally.
We also talked about transparency and accountability in Albany, and about his willingness to put Central New York ahead of party when he believes the two conflict. I heard someone who genuinely wants to advocate for others and is willing to step up and do the work.
James is young, but he is not inexperienced. After meeting him, I see him as someone who inspires confidence, and I believe his perspective is valuable to have in conversations about Central New York’s future.
I found him authentic, thoughtful, and passionate about public service, and I look forward to seeing where his career takes him.
