Speak up for what?

Letter submission: Speak up for what?
House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries disclosed his action plan for Democrats going forward: “Show up, stand up, speak up.” (CBS Evening News, 6-6-25)
However, Democrats need more from a leader than just poetry. They need what the scripture calls wisdom, which includes a lot that political leaders don’t have today.
My question is, show up for what? Rule of law, or rule of the party platform? Stand up for principle, ethics, morality, common sense, or stand up to deliver the script put before you? Speak up for Supreme Court precedent decisions given as gifts to political beggars with money, or speak up for historical constitutional law?
For his part, PBS’s political analyst Jonathan Capehart says Democrats need to “talk like real people.” Which is what? Real people today are not the real people our ancestors were.
Real people today may occasionally give an independent personal opinion from the heart, but do they have the knowledge to back it up? Do they know history, law, and the political science of democracy’s long-time adversary—monarchy? Do they live ethically, honestly, selflessly, with compassion for all others, for animals? Do they have a sense of responsibility for others beyond just their immediate family?
