Stupidity Virus-2024

Yes, long lying dormant the Stupidity Virus of 2014 has once again infected the Oswego County Legislature.

If you don’t remember what the Stupidity Virus is here is the definition: The Stupidity Virus is a proven virus by Harvard University Scientist, it is a virus that causes otherwise intelligent individuals to do or perform “Stupidly”.

A vaccine was discovered in 2014 and yearly booster shots were offered. That year the Minority Caucus of the Oswego County Legislature received their vaccine shots, which consist of a large portion of Common Sense. Sense 2014 the Minority Caucus has on a yearly basis received their booster shots of Common Sense. With the recent influx of new and unvaccinated Legislators in the Majority Caucus of the  Oswego County Legislature, the Stupidity Virus has come back stronger than ever.

Recently the Legislature approved improvements to a property it owns and leases at one time to the City of Oswego. Those improvements cost the taxpayers $2 million dollars. Also, the Oswego County legislature also approved a payment of over $300,000 of ARPA funds. All this money is taxpayer money.

This property is now leased to a private company out of Syracuse called Champions Events Services. They run softball and baseball tournaments. Grossing over $500,000 a year.

Now comes the effects of having the Stupidity Virus.

After doing the renovation(improvements) the Oswego County Legislature is only asking for a $20,000 a year rent. Which is 1% of the costs to do the improvements asked for by the renter. It will take 100 yrs. to pay back the taxpayers for their investment. In that time there will be a need to replace the improvements 10 times.

Now more than a few of these Legislators are landlords, if asked to do improvements on a property they are renting out, do you think that they would let the tenant only pay 1% of the improvements. I think not. They would want a payback on their investment as quickly as possible.

So, one would ask, if it’s the effects of the “Stupidity Virus” or is there something else in play here.

“Stupidity Virus or just plain “Stupidity” it’s your money, hold them accountable.
