To the Editor

Sheriff Hilton has once again stated publicly that the arrest made by his department related to the Cato raid, was not made because of race. And yet, in his next breath acknowledges his collusion with U.S. Border Patrol. Let’s take his word on the first part at his word. And then let’s take the second part on the same basis.

Sheriff Hilton has now come full circle from full denial of collusion with Border Patrol and ICE to seemingly defending his on-going record of cooperating with both federal agencies.

To this point, the past year, folks have written letters to the editor, made phone calls, attended Legislature meetings, and spoken to the Sheriff one on one, demanding that he refrain from participating in these illegal actions on the part of both Border Patrol and ICE.

Now suddenly he has this newly created “open-door”  policy. There is a bottom line here that needs to be addressed by Don Hilton and that is…Tell the Truth, acknowledge your mistakes, and STOP Colluding.
