OSWEGO, NY – On May 30, Oswego Boxing Club’s Billy Meggison traveled two hours to Gouverneur to make his amateur boxing debut.
He was joined by fellow OBC member Lindsay Demling.
Meggison earned a hard-fought unanimous decision victory.
Demling lost a tough fight, but her effort did not go unnoticed.
“We are really proud of Billy and Lindsay for their hard work in training camp and the competition,“ said Derrick Falcetti, co-owner of OBC. “Billy has really come a long way in boxing. He is easy to coach and spends a lot of time helping around the gym and I appreciate that.”
The club is currently looking for more boxers to compete.
“We have several new boxers that are preparing for their first competition,” Falcetti said. “On June 20, we will be going to Syracuse to compete.”
“It felt great to get a win for myself and my team at OBC. My plan was to draw from my experience in Muay Thai and MMA, weather the storm and try to come on strong later in the fight,” Meggison explained. “I was fighting a bigger opponent, so I knew he’d have less in his tank than I would. I think that’s what earned me the victory. I just want to thank my coaches Derrick Falcetti, Derek Breitbeck and Brett Falcetti for the support and encouragement and also my sparring partners Cody Hogan and Kellen Bassette for helping to prepare me. I look forward to seeing big things from Oswego Boxing Club.”
