OSWEGO – The Oswego Children’s Theater will celebrate families this December with its holiday production of Barbara Robinson’s “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”
The show is truly family theater both in content and in cast.
This is because the cast and crew of the show consist of several members of individual families.
A good example of one of these relationships might be the show stage and musical directors Lyndsie and Ken Jones, a married couple, and their children Arianna, Leo and Elliot Jones are all part of the production.
Other families involved include ,the D’Angelos with brothers Cameron and Ethan and sister Gianna D’Angelo; the Osborns, including sisters Sydney and Layne Osborn; the Taylors with grandmother, Ruth and grandson Gabriel Taylor; the Wentworths with Bradd and Gina Wentworth with their daughter Amelia, brother and sister Nolan and Elsie Verburg; and the Moshers with Wayne and Kelly Mosher along with grandchildren Odin and Olive Mosher and their cousin Ethan Mosher.
The show features a cast of about 27 ranging in age from 1 to to 63 years that come from all over the area including Oswego, Fulton, Hannibal, Mexico, New Haven and Johnson City.
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” tells a wonderful story of the true meaning of Christmas, when a family from the wrong side of town, the Herdmans, are inadvertently invited to Sunday school, and take over the annual church Christmas pageant.
Along the way, they hear the original Christmas Story for the first time.
The pageant is almost canceled as the church struggles to accept with the new-comers, but in the end everything turns out right and everyone learns a lesson in tolerance.
